Brindza winery

The first we will visit "Brindza winery" in Backa Topola. It is the new modern winery opened few years ago. Brindza family is famous for ‘Capriolo’ bike factory. The founder started wine production as a hobby and this idea soon led to the establishment of a company with ambitious plans for the future. The winery is situated near Bačka Topola on the family estate with restaurant, rooms and other facilities. Vineyards are located about 15 km away from the cellar on Telecka plateau between the settlements of Krivaja and Gornja Rogatica. At around 12 hectares of vineyards grow mostly white grape varieties Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Rhine Riesling, Traminer, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir , and wine production is 40,000 liters per year. As part of the winery is a nice restaurant offering local and international dishes in which we will enjoy local specialties paired with wines from this winery...

The second winery in our route is "Zvonko Bogdan" in Palic ( Subotica) one of the Top 5 Serbian winery. It is the new modern winery, started in 2008 . From the beginning, their aim is to produce top-quality wines that bear the stamp of the region from which they come, by combining the specificity and tradition of Palic vineyards with the latest French technology. Wines of Zvonko Bogdan Winery are produced exclusively from grapes-cultivated and matured in its vineyards. They own 56 hectares of vineyards on three different plots and on it grow Sauvignon blanc, Pinot blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Muscat yellow , Merlot, Frankish, Cabernet franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Such an attitude about the quality production is the reason why the wines of this winery has won numerous awards at Decanter, San Francisco IWC, Concours Mondia, Japan Wine Challenge, AWC Wiena ... Last year, the winery was awarded the regional award "White Cluster" as the most successful Serbian wineries in wine tourism for the year 2016. During the visit you will see why.. <

  • Backa wine region

This part of the Pannonian Plain is north part of Serbia, along the border with Hungary. The area has a winemaking tradition that goes back well over 2,000 years. The entire Subotica-Horgos area lies on sandy terrain left by the prehistoric Pannonian Sea. That's why wines from this area are commonly referred to as sand wines. The sandy soil, a moderate continental climate and top grape varieties yield very appealing wines. For a variety of historical circumstances, wine production in the second half of the 20th century was almost extinguished and vineyards were destroyed. Recovery began 15 years ago and today in this area wine production is growing rapidly and vineyards are replanted. In the 400 ha under the vineyards white grape varieties are dominated : Grasevina (Italian Riesling), Rhine Riesling , Pinot blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Muscat Ottonel , Sémillon, and domestic Smederevka, Sila, Zelenika and Bela Dinka. From red grapes has the most Merlot, Pinot Noir, Kadarka, Frankovka (Lemberger) and Cabernet Sauvignon. Some of the most famous Serbian wineries are located in this area.
